Meet Pat and Patty Flaugherty (pronounced flair-tee), teenage fraternal twins who have a penchant for getting themselves involved in mysteries. They don’t plan to become professional detectives, but never being ones to dismiss a challenge, they attack these mysteries wholeheartedly until they resolve them.
As a team, they each bring their unique strengths to the investigations: Patty’s keen eye for observation of details and Pat’s ability to “read” people. But with very different personalities, they are often at odds with each other during the process. Pat is headstrong and can be impulsive; Patty is levelheaded and practical, although sometimes too critical of her brother.

Meet Pat Flaugherty. Patrick John Flaugherty, Pat to his friends, is a 17-year-old student at Temple High School, located in Temple City, and is about to enter his senior year. He is 5’ 11” tall and weighs 180 lbs. He has dark, curly hair and mischievously twinkling blue eyes, broad shoulders, and an athletic build. He is an honor student who loves to read, but is also a running back on the high school football team. After graduation, he plans to attend State University where he will study journalism. He lives in Temple City with his fraternal twin sister and his widowed mother. He is currently dating Cathy Brent, a fiery redhead with large green eyes. Cathy’s father, Howard Brent, owns Brent’s Department Store, one of the largest retailers in Temple City.

Meet Patty Flaugherty. Patricia Ann Flaugherty, known to her friends as Patty, lives in Temple City with her fraternal twin brother, Pat, and her widowed mother. Patty is 17 years old, with long, thick dark hair and serious blue eyes. She is 5’ 7” tall and attends Temple High School, where she will be a senior this fall. She is a cheerleader for the Temple High School football team. She is also an honor student who loves to read and learn new things and spends a great deal of time trying to keep her brother out of trouble. She plans to attend State University after graduation, where she will study pre-law. Her hopes are to one day be a lawyer, following in the footsteps of her father, who was the youngest district attorney in their county.

Patty is currently dating Robert S. Daily, whom she has known since they were children. Recently, he gave her a diamond ring as a memento of their relationship.
