Some Insights into My Characters—Cathy

Cathy Brent is Pat’s sometimes girlfriend. She does not appear in every story, but is usually mentioned in most. The image you see above is a composite photograph created to show what I believe Cathy should look like.

Catherine Melissa Brent is an attractive girl, considered by many to be the most beautiful girl at Temple High. Her long, wavy hair is coppery-red and her skin is like porcelain. She has large green eyes.

Cathy is the only daughter of Howard Brent, the wealthy owner of Brent’s Department Store. Needless to say, she always wears the latest styles from the store. Her “Daddy” spoils her. Her home is in Oaken Acres, the wealthiest section of Temple City.

Howard was married once before, and has two sons from his previous marriage. Howard, Jr., also known as Howie, is 20 years older than Cathy, and is married and works as an accountant at the store. Cathy’s other half-brother, Mason, also in his 30s, is a handsome young man who spends most of his time in activities like surfing, and spends a lot of his father’s money while having no desire to hold a job.

Cathy’s mother, Deidre Brent, is much younger than her husband. In fact, she attended high school with Howie and graduated in the same class. Deidre is an attractive strawberry-blonde who has been mistaken for Cathy’s older sister at times.

Cathy is one of the most popular girls in school. She is very aware of her position and her looks, and tends to treat others around her with disdain. She is highly intelligent, but often lacks common sense. She hasn’t thought much about her future.
