The Wonders of AI

I’m not one much for trying new things; I tend to usually be the last one to try something new, and often I have to be dragged into it, kicking and screaming, as they say. And AI is no exception.
I see the benefits of AI. The number of utilitarian uses for AI seems to grow every day. And the ease of researching information, for example, makes prepping for my books so much simpler than it used to be. Of course, I still often have to verify everything since AI curates all Internet data and doesn’t separate what is true from what is misinformation.
But there’s even a greater downside. People are beginning to use AI instead of thinking for themselves. I’ve heard of teachers receiving research papers from students that were obviously AI written. That is not learning, and will certainly not benefit the student in the long run.
As writers, some of us now use AI to create our email responses, our newsletters, and yes, even our books. That can quickly turn into abuse of a potentially wonderful thing.
And now we’re seeing things like AI worship songs, AI poetry, etc. It technically has all the right stuff, but it lacks heart; it lacks soul. You can’t replace human beings with AI.
All that being said, I decided to delve a little into the murky waters of AI to create a video using the image from my next book. I did this with free AI, so it is limited. And, of course, I had no idea what I was doing, since I’m so technically challenged. I just gave the image to the program and asked it to animate it. It doesn’t get the story right, but it is still impressive. Enjoy.
