The Flaugherty Twins Mysteries are similar to the Hardy Boy and Nancy Drew mystery stories in style and format. You’ll see the same type of expanding mysteries that the teens will encounter, and you’ll see the same type of cliff-hanger chapter endings that are the hallmarks of these classic mysteries.
Yet, the Flaugherty twins have some unique characteristics that make them one-of-a-kind. First, Pat and Patty are Irish-American by heritage. This heritage will be gradually revealed through the series as we learn more about the characters and their backstories. In a future adventure, the twins will even travel to Ireland to solve a mystery.
Also, the twins are Roman Catholic, and although at the beginning of the series, their faith is barely evident, throughout the series they will grow in faith. Their faith foundation will even play a part in some of the mysteries and how they solve them. We will watch them grow from teens who place very little importance on their faith to young adults who rely on their faith to inform their choices of action.
The third book in the series, Lost on Black Mountain, introduces the first characters of faith. Although they are not Catholic, they will also help to influence the twins in their faith journey. Look for Lost on Black Mountain, which will be published soon.
